What is “STORM?”
Special Team of Role Models is a program that is comprised of students who fit a very strict acceptance policy based upon moral integrity, steadfast training, and total discipline inside and outside of the Dojang.  At the current time, Master Bruce is in charge of recruiting and appointing persons to this specially selected team of exceptional students / Black Belts.  Membership isn’t easy to attain.  Becoming a member of this elite team of select martial artists within Bruce Taekwondo Academy is a high honor.  Special Team of Role Models are specifically chosen individuals from within the student and Black Belt ranks who have demonstrated leadership capability and tendency in and out of class.  This leadership team furthers fellow martial artists’ training by assistance in teaching martial arts techniques, motivate fellow students, and communicate with students, parents, and instructors.

STORM is not unique to Bruce Taekwondo Academy.  It is used by martial art schools of all styles across the country.  Each school maintains its own criteria for being a STORM Team member.

How the Selection Process Works:
Participation in the STORM Team is by invitation only.  If you are selected and wish to be a member of the Team, you will need to fill out and sign the STORM Application Form.  From the applications received, Master Bruce will select a STORM Team Leader and one STORM Team Assistant.  Team Member selections will be based on review of the remainder of the applicants by Master Bruce, Team Leader and Team Assistant. 

STORM Team Candidate Requirements/Guidelines:

Purpose:  The STORM Team is intended to develop, motivate, and reward students from age 7 thru adult who have excellent attitudes in and out of the Dojang and strive for technical excellence in class.  This program will develop STORM Team students / Black Belts towards higher levels of leadership and Martial Arts excellence as they prepare to become instructors at Bruce Taekwondo Academy.

• Be age 7 or older
• Be a member of Bruce Taekwondo Academy
• Hold the rank of Blue belt or higher
• Be a model student inside the Dojang and be selected by Master Bruce and the STORM Team Leader and Assistant.
• Be a model student outside the Dojang and be recommended by your parents and school teachers (if under the age of 18 or if you are still in High School).
• Regularly train a minimum two classes per week.

If eligibility requirements are met, the student becomes what is known as a STORM Candidate.  While a STORM Candidate, the student will:

1. Read, agree to, and sign the STORM Agreement
2. Receive Parental Recommendation (if under age 18)
3. Receive Teacher Recommendation if still in school)
4. Turn in most recent copy of your school report if applicable

STORM Team Responsibilities:

1. STORM Team members attend classes a minimum of three classes per week.  One class is regular training; one class should be as a training leader (train during the class as a role model/leader) and the other teaching during a class (assisting).  STORM Team members will receive a check-off sheet for the Instructor to sign and date.
   
   Classifications:
1. STORM Team Class #1 required to assist in teaching a minimum of 12 hours at Tigers class.
2. STORM Team Class #1 required to assist in teaching a minimum of 30 hours at Adult / Family Class
3. STORM Team Class #2 required to teach a minimum of 6 hours in Tigers class
4. STORM Team Class #2 required to teach a minimum of 15 hours of Adult / Family Class
5. STORM Team Class #3 required to teach 3 hours Tigers Class
6. STORM Team Class #3 required to teach 8 hours Adult / Family Class
7. Upon completion of all classifications 1-3 then the STORM Team member has graduated into Instructor Candidate (Black Chevron).

• You must be 1st Dan or higher to receive Instructor status.
• If you are under the age of 18 you will be a "Junior Instructor" candidate.
• If you are a colored belt you receive the title as STORM Team Advisor until 1st Dan is achieved.    

2. STORM Team members must attend STORM Team seminars, classes and workshops when scheduled.
